The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at the University of
Maribor, Slovenia, has its foundation stemmed from the needs of
industry, which lacked educated personnel. The faculty consists
of 11 departments in which professors and associates develop individual
fields of economics and business. Over 60 research scientists are
working in the FEB. The FEB has developed rich and fruitful international co-operation with more than 20 Universities across Europe and worldwide.
The Faculty also has a Research and Educational Centre with thirteen
institutes. The Institute of Organisation and Computer Science has been
involved in many research and business oriented projects in last
decades. In the Institute twelve full time researchers work in the
field of general management, project management, system theory and
practice, social and economic transition of Slovenia, quality
management, HRM and innovation.
The FEB will be able to contribute valuable expertise in
relation to SME development, expertise in training and education, and
knowledge management. The FEB has worked extensively since 1995
in Slovenia, mostly financed by the Slovene Government, focussing on
transition process in Slovenia, Management transformation concepts in
organisations, regional trends of development in Slovenia concerning
knowledge, training, management, organisation, and competitiveness.
Published research includes "Model of Knowledge Management in
Slovenia", "New Organisation forms in Slovenian Business" and
"Innovation of Enterprise" (all in Slovene). The FEB has
extensive and regular contact with more than 200 small organisations in
Slovenia, as well as Chambers of Commerce, and business associations
enabling FEB to disseminate the results widely.
